Overlooking the Kapamba River in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, Zungulila Bush Camp sits on a raised knoll above picturesque plains, where natural springs attract animals year-round. An unspoilt oasis in a particularly wild and remote corner of South Luangwa, Zungulila has four tented suites on offer, ensuring a very exclusive and personalised stay for honeymoon couples, small private groups, and travellers seeking a destination well off the beaten path.
In addition to classic vehicle-based game viewing and thrilling night drives, South Luangwa is the ‘home of the walking safari’. Spectacular natural beauty, open terrain and teeming wildlife make it perfect for exploring on foot. Recall the early days of African explorers in the expert care of a professional guide and armed ranger as they lead you through untamed wilderness and share bush lore: track a leopard by its distinctive spoor, discover medicinal plants, and translate the warning calls of unseen birds.
Zungulila Bush Camp works well in an itinerary combining its sister camp, Kapamba, and the mighty Victoria Falls. With low volumes of tourists and spectacular reserves and game viewing, Zambia is a safari destination on par with the most famous on the African continent.

Standard Tent
Simply and elegantly furnished with chic colonial décor, Zungulila's four spacious tents are comfortable and serene. King and queen-sized beds rest regally below billowing mosquito nets and carved rosewood furnishings in rich, warm hues that echo the surrounding landscape.
Spacious en suite bathrooms offer modern flush toilets and charming outdoor showers with hot and cold running water. Each suite has a plunge pool filled with hot or cold water according to the season. The thatched roof shelters you from the African sun and a bamboo-enclosed verandah cocoons you in a private retreat – blissful, beautiful and utterly relaxing!
Facilities
This remote tented camp delivers an intimate experience in an untouched corner of the South Luangwa National Park. Unfenced and served by solar power, the camp has all the comforts you expect plus thoughtful conveniences such as camera battery chargers, laundry and a doctor on call.
Zungulila offers a mix of safari activities: expert trackers and guides lead exhilarating forays on foot into the wild, allowing you to follow herds of elephants and buffalo, track antelope and catch a glimpse of wild dogs at play. Exciting day and night game drives are also on offer, as are lazy afternoons relaxing on the deck overlooking a busy waterhole.
Toast the setting sun from the edge of the Kapamba River as you cool your toes in the shallow, swirling waters before gathering in the open-air boma around the campfire. After a sumptuous dinner, a member of staff escorts you safely to your en tent for the night.
Dining
Enjoy delicious cuisine in beautiful surroundings at Zungulila. Each morning, as the wilderness begins to stir, hearty breakfasts are served around the open campfire. Following the morning game-viewing activity, lunch is served in the cool shade of an open-sided tent with spectacular views over the savannah.
Guides also provide refreshments during safari activities – enjoy a mid-morning snack of tea and biscuits or a picnic lunch in the wilderness, and a cold beer in the warmth of an afternoon drive. Gather around a crackling fire for sundowners before taking your seat at the splendid supper table set on a deck that seems to float over the plains. Dine alfresco under glorious starry skies with a good wine list and the night sounds of Africa to serenade you.
