Nkwali Camp lies in an area of ebony woodland just outside the legendary South Luangwa National Park. The area offers some of the best game viewing in the region: elephants can frequently be spotted crossing the river and the park is well-known for leopard, hippo, and giraffe sightings.
The combination of a bird list of some 400 species plus guides with specialized birding skills makes Nkwali an excellent choice for birdwatchers. Set off into the park on a walking safari accompanied by your guide and an armed scout for an up-close view of nature. Game viewing by open 4X4 vehicles also takes place each morning and afternoon and exciting night drives in the park are also possible. A seasonal highlight is to skim through the waterways in search of wildlife in one of the lodge's three swamp boats.
The camp has been designed to accommodate families on safari. Children may be included on family game drives or may be left at camp under the close supervision of trained staff. A range of activities are available for children including fun quizzes and puzzles as well as trips to Kawaza school to meet Zambian children.

At Nkwali the experience is all about the guests and the staff will do anything in their power to ensure that your stay is just perfect!
Rooms
Facilities
The open-sided central lodge incorporates a comfortable sitting area and a small library. Guests usually congregate around the campfire or on the ideally positioned viewing deck next to the bar.
On hot afternoons between game drives, you may want to lounge around the swimming pool, located next to the thatched dining area overlooking the lagoon, or arrange for the masseuse to give you a relaxing hot stone or Thai massage in camp.
Dining
The thatched dining room at Nkwali overlooks a lagoon where many of the resident animals drink during the day. Breakfast, brunch, and lunch are excellent, and generous buffets and delicious dinners are served at a long, lantern-lit table, usually under the trees next to the river.
The bar at Nkwali is situated on the banks of the river and is built around a massive ebony tree. The bar provides the perfect spot for watching elephant herds cross the Luangwa River.
