Camp Kalahari's location on a private concession bordering the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park makes it the ideal base from which to experience a true African safari. Set among the acacias of Hyena Island, it is perfect for those in search of that unique combination of style, comfort, fun, and adventure.
There's never a dull moment at Camp Kalahari, whether it's the wet or dry season. The summer rains trigger a local zebra and wildebeest migration as well as amazing bird watching - keep your eyes peeled for flamingos. The dry winter season offers comfortable conditions and great game viewing as well as adventure activities - take an exhilarating quad bike ride across the Makgadikgadi Pans and soak up the vastness of the Kalahari Desert.
Highlights
Activities
This camp has a very laid-back atmosphere in a truly unique setting. I loved the different activities on offer and learned so much during my stay; about the bushmen, the meerkats, how animals adapt to living in such dry conditions, and much more.
Rooms
Standard Double Tent
Camp Kalahari's Meru-style canvas tents are beautifully decorated with a classic Moroccan flair. They offer bucketloads of privacy and never-ending views over the Kalahari plains. Bathrooms are en suite and open-air
Family Tent
A family tent which comprises a double and a twin room.
Facilities
The camp's swimming pool offers welcome relief from the heat of the day and the spacious lounge and dining area are ideal for a spot of relaxation.
Enjoy a drink from the bar while taking in the beauty of your surroundings or an interesting read in the thatched library.
Dining
Camp Kalahari offers its guests various dining experiences ranging from picnic breakfasts on the vast salt pans to tasty lunches served in camp; best of all however are the barbecue dinners that begin as dusk settles after a long and rewarding day.
The camp's expert chef might just prepare his one-of-a-kind 'Pilli-Pilli Ho-Ho' for you - a lethal blend of chilies marinated in sherry and gin which you are sure to remember long after you've returned home.
