Overlooking the mighty Nile River and within Uganda's Murchison Falls National Park, is the Nile Safari Camp.
Set amongst the rich papyrus forest on the southern banks of the Nile, it is close enough to see the elephants playing in the water and listen to the hippos grunting in the night.
Enjoy drinks from the bar or relax on the large wooden deck that provides beautiful views of the river and surrounding bush. Find respite from the heat of the day in the swimming pool and eventually end your day around an open fire, gazing at Africa's starlit night sky.
Activities at the camp are numerous and include boat trips down the Nile and to the thundering Murchison Falls. Other options include game drives, walking safaris, cultural village excursions, and fishing trips.
Highlights
Activities
Hearing the frogs singing loudly from my cozy wooden cabin was an excellent way to wake up before a safari in Murchison Falls National Park!
Rooms
Standard Room
Accommodation at the Nile Safari Camp comprises five wooden chalets and five luxury tents all with en-suite showers with hot water on request, flush toilets, and electric lighting. Each features mosquito-net-covered beds, an indoor sitting area, and a wonderful private balcony for early morning coffee and late afternoon drinks.
The comfortably furnished chalets and tents are cleverly positioned to maximize privacy and views of the Nile from your balcony.
Facilities
The open-sided lounge and dining areas lead onto wide terraces and extensive wooden decks with comfortable seating from which to watch the Nile River flow past.
Inviting warm and chilled drinks are served at the Tamarind Bar, shaded by the giant tree after which it is named and on the suspended veranda that overlooks the expansive wilderness.
A dip in the lodge’s swimming pool is a wonderful way to wash the heat of the day away, before relaxing around the campfire under the African night sky.
Dining
At Nile Safari Camp there are many dining options. You can choose to relax on your private balcony and enjoy food and drinks served by your personal waiter.
Meals are also served in the camp's dining area. For a special adventure, you could try a bush dinner on the southern bank of the River Nile.
The Nile Safari Camp will also happily pack a lunch for you to take on your daily safari.
