These charming ocean-side villas are located in a lush palm forest just 20km from Zanzibar’s historical capital Stone Town. Spread over six hectares of beautiful tropical gardens, each of the seven secluded villas features its gazebo-covered swimming pool and a pathway leading to a completely private beach. Once you are settled, your butler will see to it that every one of your needs is fulfilled, but will only enter the grounds at your request. The materials and colours used in the villas’ design are in harmony with the tropical African landscape, and the canvas prints adorning the walls brilliantly capture these natural surroundings. Whether an enthusiast of scuba diving, crystal-clear swimming or utter relaxation, Zanzi Resort is a serene island sanctuary where all your castaway dreams come true.
Start your day with a plate of blueberry pancakes ordered from your butler and served on the verandah overlooking your lush private garden. Meandering down the path to your secluded beach, stand on the shoreline and wait for the tide to wash up and cover your toes. An exhilarating reef dive puts you within touching distance of turtles, sharks, rays and a whole host of luminous fish which swim in their thousands among the magnificent coral formations. Lunch is served in the open-air thatched restaurant where you adore the chef’s Zanzibari-accented fish dish and take up his offer of a private demonstration of Zanzibari-style cooking. You then take the steady breeze in your sails and whip across the Indian Ocean on a kiteboard, soaking up your gorgeous surroundings. That evening an exquisite dinner of island-style grilled chicken is served with chilled champagne on your suite’s candlelit verandah
Highlights
Activities
Staying in your own spacious, private villa surrounded by lush gardens gives you that hideaway feel, yet you are not far from some great day tour explorations of the island.
Rooms
One Bedroom Garden View African Eco Bungalow
Rooms are secluded, spacious and furnished with décor and locally-produced artefacts which complement the stunning natural surroundings. Outside each villa is a thatched and furnished gazebo which provides the ideal place to enjoy the warm evening breeze and gaze at the star-studded sky.
OTHER ROOM TYPES
Selected villas feature bedrooms nestled into the branches of a tree – ideal for families with children.
Facilities
All buildings are constructed with local materials; specially produced bricks are used to ensure efficient ventilation and protect the interiors from the tropical heat. The resort’s waste water is filtered using a biological treatment plant while movement-sensitive switches ensure economical electricity use.
The seven well-spaced villas are each serviced by a personal butler and daily housekeeping to ensure they are spotlessly clean and you have everything you require at all times.
Aside from water sports, activities available include a tour of Stone Town and the island’s spice farms or a visit to Changuu Island which is famous for its giant tortoise population.
The restaurant serves delectable Zanzibari-inspired cuisine for guests who would rather not enjoy meals in the privacy of their villa or on the beach. A spa and wellness centre offers therapeutic Thai massages as well as a range of manicures and pedicures. Reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort.
Dining
While staying at Zanzi Resort, you can enjoy the extravagance of in-villa private dining for each meal. Alternatively, you can relish white linen and silver service right on the beach or at the resort’s vibrant restaurant where the chef prepares gourmet meals to pique the senses. Local vegetables and fruit are harvested on the island and local fishermen bring in surf-fresh catch daily to supplement the seafood-rich menu.
