Your first night is spent at Four Points by Sheraton in Nairobi. Here you can do some shopping or see Nairobi’s sights such as the Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe Centre and Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage.
The safari portion of this itinerary begins in Kenya’s showpiece – the Masai Mara National Reserve. Your accommodation is one of the Mara’s favourites – Sand River Masai Mara – and takes full advantage of its setting to deliver excellent and exclusive game sightings.
Then it is off to the Indian Ocean coast and Kenya’s world-famous Diani Beach. Next, your Kenya fly-in safari whisks you to one of the world's most famous wildlife destinations, the Masai Mara National Reserve. You arrive at Sand River in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive and sundowner drinks in a scenic location.
The camp is set on the banks of the Sand River in a secluded and picturesque area of the Masai Mara National Reserve. It reflects the glamorous heyday of the 1920s when ‘safari’ was a dreamy Out of Africa experience but with a modern 'low impact' philosophy. Sand River Masai Mara lies directly on the Wildebeest Migration route; guests are often fortunate to witness herds of wildebeest and zebra cross the river from the comfort of their tents.
Spend your days going on game drives in the Masai Mara, spotting a plethora of wildlife like elephants, giraffes, topi, eland, buffalo, and the Mara's famous big cats (lion, leopard, and cheetah). You’ll also have the opportunity to savor a delicious picnic lunch in the wilderness and visit an authentic Maasai village for meaningful interactions with one of Africa’s most famous tribes.
Sand River Masai Mara
A scheduled flight whisks you from Sand River Masai Mara to Ukunda Airport, south of Mombasa on the Indian Ocean coast. Here you are met and transferred to Water Lovers Beach Retreat where you can kick back after the drama and early morning starts of your Masai Mara safari. This family-owned and -run resort has everything you need for complete relaxation: it sits on the dazzling white sands of world-famous Diani Beach and its rooms are air-conditioned and come with complimentary Wi-Fi. There is an in-house spa offering massages, beauty and wellness treatments, and reflexology. Enjoy little touches such as seats shaped like whale tails and a relaxed atmosphere that is very child-friendly.
You also have the chance to be as active as you like: there is a popular beginner’s coral reef nearby, an 18-hole golf course, and bikes to rent. Imaginative meals are enjoyed with sand between your toes and the menu changes daily: dishes include roasted pumpkin ravioli in crab and fish ragout and passion fruit mousse with white chocolate flakes.
Water Lovers Beach Resort
After breakfast at you will take a light charter aircraft back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. You will then be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward travel arrangements, and the end of this tour.
