Itinerary (Day by Day)

  • Day 1: Arrive in Maun
  • You'll arrive in Botswana at Maun International Airport, the gateway to the country's best safari destinations. From here, it's a short internal flight to Camp Kalahari, a rustic safari camp located in the Makgadikgadi salt pans. Here, you can disconnect from modern life (there's no WiFi out here) and reconnect with each other and with nature. Hidden amongst palms and acacia trees on Brown Hyaena Island, this camp is right on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, next to Makgadikgadi-Nxai Pans National Park. The 12 Meru-style tents of Camp Kalahari are simple and authentic, yet also offer four-poster beds, en-suite facilities, and alfresco showers.

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 2-3: Explore the Salt Pans
  • Start your luxury safari with a range of adventure activities, including traditional game drives, which offer excellent wildlife viewing, including the migration of zebra and wildebeest between January and April. Brown Hyaena Island takes its name from the animal of the same name, the third rarest large carnivore in the whole of Africa. Other species to keep your eyes peeled for include bat-eared foxes, aardvarks, aardwolves, and elephants, whilst predators are never too far behind - keeping an eye on their prey.

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 4: Transfer to Khwai Private Reserve
  • After your morning activities at Camp Kalahari, you'll take a light aircraft flight to the Khwai Private Reserve and your next accommodation, Little Sable Camp. Located between Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe National Park and the Khwai River, Little Sable Camp is in located in a really beautiful concession, with a mixture of stunning channels, floodplains and mature woodlands. The camp itself has just eight rooms and a beautiful main area overlooking the floodplains and even a swimming pool and look out deck.

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 5-6: Explore Khwai Private Reserve
  • With Moremi Game Reserve to the south and Chobe National Park to the east, the Khwai Game Reserve is comprised of riverways, woodlands, floodplains, lagoons, grasslands and more, making this area a rich and diverse habitat for a wide range of species. In particular, the reserve is noted for its huge herds of elephant and buffalo. Khwai's impressive cast of characters includes lurking hippos and crocodiles in the waters, big cats and fearsome predators hiding in the bushes, graceful herbivores such as sable, roan, impala, kudu, as well as appearances from rare African wild dogs.

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 7: Transfer to Okavango Delta
  • Take a morning game drive back to the airstrip for a light aircraft flight into your next destination: the famed Okavango Delta and Kwara Camp. Set next to a beautiful lagoon, Kwara Camp is an adults-only nine-tented camp, offering a peaceful and romantic atmosphere for visiting couples. Each tent features its own private deck for wildlife-watching and gorgeous views across the floodplains, as well as en-suite facilities (with an indoor shower, outdoor shower and bathtub). Between game drives and excursions, enjoy a siesta and relax with a digital detox (there is no WiFi or phone signal at this camp).

    Kwara

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 8-9: Explore the Okavango Delta
  • The Kwara Private Reserve is noted for its abundance of predators. You may also be able to tick off the most elusive of Africa's Big Five, as the region is home to the rare white rhino. Other species often found in these parts include big game favorites such as hippo, impala, lechwe, sitatunga, zebra, giraffe, and elephant. When you need a break from the "African massage" of a game drive, enjoy a smooth boat cruise on a double-decker boat to the Godikwe Lagoon; an ideal spot for birdwatching.

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 10: Transfer to Victoria Falls
  • Next, you'll leave Botswana behind and move into neighboring Zimbabwe to the epic cascades of Victoria Falls. Take an internal flight to Kasane first, then a road transfer to the falls, where you'll be staying at the historic Victoria Falls Hotel. Built in 1904, the building was originally conceived as accommodation for laborers working on the Cape-to-Cairo railway but was transformed in the 1970s to welcome guests. The 161 rooms and suites are divided into many categories, including two grand honeymoon suites located in the Stables Signature Wing. A stay here is pure romance.

    The Victoria Falls Hotel

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 11: Explore Victoria Falls
  • The planet's largest curtain of falling water, Mosi-Oa-Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders) is an impressive natural phenomenon. Explore the falls at your own pace, with hikes to gorgeous, spray-filled viewpoints; cruises along the Zambezi, or horseback riding along the river. Those who are looking for a little more adventure can enjoy a wide range of adrenaline activities, including bungee jumping, the Gorge Swing, white-water rafting, zipline, or swimming out to Devil's Pool.

    The Victoria Falls Hotel

    Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

  • Day 12: Depart from Victoria Falls
  • Sadly, your luxury safari tour of Botswana and Zimbabwe comes to an end, as you transfer back to Victoria Falls International Airport in plenty of time for your onward journey home.
