Bugoma Jungle Lodge is the first tourism accommodation in Bugoma Forest Reserve, Kikuube District in Uganda. The name is after this hidden and off-the-beaten-tracks tropical forest reserve of Bugoma, which is the habitat of incredible biodiversity, from the chimpanzees to the endemic Uganda mangabey. This location is the best stopover along the tourist route between Murchison Falls and Kibale National Parks. The lodge was opened in 2018 to allow visitors to visit Bugoma Forest and to have eco-tourism activities in the area. It is part of the conservation project of the Association for Conservation of Bugoma Forest (ACBF). Built on a large forested area, some of it reforested, this is the perfect hidden forest experience.
You will be impressed by the sounds of birds, monkeys, and primates, the calls of bush babies at night all surrounding you. Observe the pristine vegetation from the upstairs viewpoint veranda.
Bugoma Jungle Lodge is an eco-lodge, where all aspects of environmental protection, conservation, and creativity are taken to high importance. The rooms are raised en-suite wooden deck cottages, grass thatched roofs, and spacious tents. From your private balcony, enjoy the typical tea while watching the movements of primates and the flying of birds.
Our Cottages
Our cottages are wooden platform-tented cottages with grass-thatched roofs, private bathrooms, and a panoramic balcony. The eco-lodge concept is on the choice of materials, from commercial timber and poles, local red bricks, grass for the roof, and canvas.
Electricity is provided by solar panels and the water heater is also solar.
Each cottage is furnished with one double bed or two single beds for a twin room.
Handmade soaps and refillable dispensers for shampoo and gels are our imprints of sustainability.
Drinking water is provided free of charge in glass bottles.
Our Restaurant
Our eco-lodge restaurant is built on a wooden platform nestled among the lush surrounding vegetation and gardens.
The entrance is an info point about Bugoma Forest and eco-tourism activities, where a craft shop displays typical products of the region and quality craft from Uganda.
Our menu features international and Ugandan cuisine with variety, quality, and freshness as the ingredients are sourced locally.
The bar offers a wide selection of international spirits, wines, beers, and beverages.
The upstairs open balcony is the best place where to have a drink while waiting for the sunset, observing nature, and listening to all sounds.
WiFi service covers the common area of the restaurant and surrounding gardens.
Camp Fire
The campfire is located near the restaurant in the gardens, where in the evening the fire is set and service of drinks is provided.
