Lemala Wildwaters Lodge detail

Wildwaters Lodge is an African Eden: 10 spacious suites lie within 6.5 hectares of pristine riverine forest that make up an island in the middle of the Nile River – the longest in the world – that flows and rages through Uganda. Leave the mainland behind and arrive by canoe, your guide expertly handling the rocks and rapids. Then walk through the pristine, emerald-green jungle that teems with birdlife – listen out for the distinctive cry of the African fish eagle - until you arrive at one of the most unique lodges on the continent.

Wildwaters Lodge is a water-sports lover’s dream: whitewater rafters can tackle ‘wild or mild’ courses, taking class 5 rapids if they choose; jet boating; fishing, or swimming in the pool that has been forged from natural rock. As you enjoy the fresh waters of the Nile, keep an eye out for fellow water babies like otters or monitor lizards.

Each of the suites has a balcony that not only has wonderful views but also an outdoor, claw-foot tub for alfresco bathing – a wonderful way to enjoy the sunset. In addition, suites have queen-sized daybeds that are perfect for relaxing with a book from the lodge’s library and hand basins carved from local pink granite. Whether you are in your suite or out on the water, Whitewater Lodge provides a stress-free honeymoon or holiday.

Rooms

Standard Villa

Elegantly constructed from a combination of rich wood, canvas, stone, and thatch, the Standard Villas at Wildwaters Lodge are both spacious and plushly furnished. King-sized, 4-poster beds swathed in mosquito netting add an air of nostalgia while freestanding, claw-foot bathtubs and queen-sized daybeds on the verandahs offer sheer romance. Perfectly positioned for both privacy and views of the river, the villas offer the ideal place to unwind after a busy day on the river. The en suite bathrooms have walk-in rain showers, signature toiletries, and vanities carved from solid chunks of pale-pink granite. Lighting is solar powered and all rooms have safes for valuables.

Facilities

The main lodge features a thatched lounge, library, and dining area while a swimming pool carved from granite overlooks the tumbling waters of the river. Wooden walkways meander through the forest to the suites, which sit under lush trees in idyllic seclusion with wonderful views.

A day spa and massages are available on request, and the lodge offers a wide range of guided activities from fishing and birding to walking safaris and kayaking adventures.

Dining

The restaurant offers freshly prepared meals served in the dining room overlooking the granite pool and the river's foaming rapids. Breakfast is a wholesome and hearty start to the day while lunch is a relaxed affair featuring a selection of courses from the a la carte menu. A pre-breakfast coffee service will be delivered to your suite, allowing you to enjoy your early-morning cuppa in bed or on your private terrace.

Dinners are served by lantern and starlight, and each of the five courses will have you looking forward to the next taste sensation. Guests in the mood for a little privacy may choose to take their dinner in their suite.
