Hoanib Valley Camp is situated in the remote Sesfontein Community Conservation Area in Namibia’s Koakoveld – one of Southern Africa's last and greatest untouched wilderness areas. The camp overlooks the picturesque Hoanib River Valley, a dry riverbed and linear oasis of vegetation that runs through the oldest desert on earth, the magnificent Namib.

This wonderful eco-camp was built in partnership with the Sesfontein community and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation – the most successful, longest-running giraffe research organization in the world. They are experts on the desert-adapted giraffe species of the Hoanib area, and monitor the region’s elephant and general game. The focus at Hoanib Valley Camp lies on the astonishing diversity of desert-adapted animals that survive in the Koakoveld’s demanding ecosystem. Spend your days tracking these giraffes, elephants, springbok, oryx, and lions on desert game drives and guided nature walks. The Himba, Herero and Damara communities of the area have ingenious ways of thriving here and will teach you how to adapt to the desert environment.

The camp’s blockbuster, however, is the stargazing. Spend your evenings around the campfire after dining al fresco, and be dazzled by the jaw-droppingly sensational African night sky in a place with very little light or air pollution.

Leaving virtually no carbon footprint, Hoanib Valley Camp runs on solar power – enough to maintain low-voltage charging points and Wi-Fi throughout the camp for your devices.

The camp has six raised tented suites that are set on spacious wooded decks. Sleep soundly in your large, comfortable bed after enjoying a nightcap on your suite’s private veranda. Bathrooms are en suite and equipped with flush toilets.
