Tarangire River Camp detail

Enjoy a classic safari at Tarangire River Camp. This luxurious tented camp, set in a 25 000ha concession overlooking the Tarangire River, is only 3.5km from the main entrance to Tarangire National Park which means you can go on fantastic game drives and bird-watching trips in Tarangire as well as at nearby Lake Manyara. And since the camp is located on the outskirts of the park, you are also permitted to do activities that are not allowed in Tanzania's northern parks such as guided walking safaris and night drives. Other activities include visits to local Maasai and Datoga villages.

Back at the camp, you'll get some more game viewing from the comfort of the elevated wooden deck or you can choose to warm up beside the fire. The raised viewing deck, dining room, and lounge all blend seamlessly with the outdoors, adding to your safari experience.

Safari Tent Double

Tarangire River Camp offers eight double-bedded, eight twin-bedded, and four triple/family tents.

The spacious tents have thatched roofs and are positioned on raised wooden decks, providing spectacular views. The cozy rooms feature four-poster beds, protected by mosquito netting, side tables, a PowerPoint, bottled water, and a luggage rack. There is an en suite bathroom with a shower, basin, and flush toilet - running water is provided throughout the day and there is hot water in the evenings.

Relax on your patio, equipped with chairs and a coffee table, and relish the fantastic views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance; several tents offer views of the Tarangire River.

The lounge and dining area are combined with the outside area of the camp. Unwind on the wooden deck with a sundowner drink or curl up in front of the lounge fireplace on chillier evenings.

Be sure to visit the curio shop for souvenirs to take home - there are many locally handmade items for sale.

Head to the dining room with its fantastic views of the river below and enjoy a delicious feast of cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins, pancakes, and cooked breakfasts made to order.

Lunch consists of an appetizing main meal with a fresh side salad and dessert while dinner is a three-course affair with tea and coffee. Snack on peanuts or popcorn in between meals.

The friendly staff will also arrange a packed picnic lunch and cater to special dietary requirements on request.
