Situated in the area bordering the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, Engagi Lodge not only boasts uninterrupted views over this green forest canopy but also has a low impact on the environment. Built from locally sourced materials by members of the surrounding communities, Engagi blends in with its surroundings and offers a naturally rustic atmosphere that complements the beautiful forest.
Explore this forest as you go on private walking trails around the lodge and down to the nearby river. Pay a visit to the working tea farm on the premises and take a tour of the plantations for a unique insight into one of Uganda’s biggest industries.
Highlights
Activities
This lodge offers a beautiful setting and views no matter where in the lodge you are. The veranda, with its firepots, invites guest to relax and tell tales of their adventures before settling in for a dinner prepared the Kampala way.
Rooms
Standard Room
You will experience absolute privacy at Engagi as there are only eight cottages here, evenly spaced and hidden by the dense foliage.
Each cottage is stylishly furnished, and spacious and has either a double or twin bed. Each cottage has an en suite bathroom with hot running water. The electricity at the lodge is supplied by solar power to minimize the impact on the environment, while the hot water is supplied by wood-burning boilers.
Step out onto your private veranda in the morning and gaze out over the beautiful surroundings as you enjoy your morning coffee or locally produced tea.
Facilities
The lodge has a large wooden veranda on which you can relax and enjoy panoramic views of Bwindi.
You can also step out on the separate outdoor viewing platform and get a closer look at this dense and beautiful primeval forest that is home to gorillas, chimpanzees, and countless birds.
Dining
The restaurant at Engagi Lodge looks out over the forested canopy and offers a warm, relaxed place in which to unwind as you enjoy a range of exquisite 3-course meals. The in-house chefs are trained in the capital, Kampala, and will be happy to cater to special dietary requirements on request.
