Singita Ebony Lodge detail

Situated next to the expansive Kruger National Park, Singita Ebony Lodge offers exclusive access to a 45,000-acre privately owned game reserve in the Sabi Sand Reserve. With 12 en-suite lodges, each boasting its own private deck and plunge pool, Singita Ebony Lodge enables you to immerse yourself in nature while enjoying the creature comforts of a luxury camp. With safari drives and guides included in your booking, it couldn’t be easier to get out in the bush and start exploring.

Singita Ebony Lodge is a camp comprising twelve suites situated on the banks of the Sand River. With each suite set within its own private deck with a plunge pool, you’ll enjoy your own exclusive space for alfresco dining and relaxing, as well as treat yourself to a refreshing splash in your dedicated plunge pool. A main pool is also open to all guests for swimming.

The style of Singita Ebony combines the old-world charm of traditional safari exploration, with the modern comforts discerning travelers seek today. Canvas and glass walls maximize the mesmerizing views of the bush across the river, and the carefully designed interiors enhance the natural environment with authentic local furnishings, vintage pieces from the Bailes’ family collection, and exposed thatch.

In each suite, the bedroom leads directly onto the veranda, featuring a floor-to-ceiling glass wall, promising the most awe-inspiring wake-ups anywhere in the world.

Beyond the individual suites, Singita Ebony Lodge offers a swimming pool in the main lodge area, as well as a modern gym and luxurious spa. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, though given the Lodge’s remote location, the connection isn’t the same as being in the city.

Here’s an overview of the cottages and villas available to you:

  • River-facing suites:  six of the suites face directly onto the river and are perfect for couples, or solo travelers. The suites feature a spacious bedroom and indoor dining area, as well as a comfortable outdoor deck, complete with a plunge pool and outdoor lounge - shielded from the view of neighboring suites.
  • Bush suites:  the two bush suites are also ideally proportioned for couples or solo travelers. With identical layouts to the river-facing suites, the bush suites benefit from an uninterrupted view of the bush, in a quiet corner of the camp.
  • Lewis Suites:  we recommend the two Lewis Suites for families traveling with teenagers, as the suites are situated right next to each other, allowing family members ample space with the security of knowing everyone is safely nearby.
  • Family suite:  ideal for families visiting with young children, the two family suites feature a master bedroom and an additional twin bedroom, both with en-suite bathrooms. As with the other suites, the family suites enjoy the use of their own private plunge pool. If your family books both family suites (next to each other), you receive many additional benefits, including a private butler, private use of the larger Villa pool, a dedicated chef, a personal guide, and a vehicle just for your group. The ultimate family experience.

Activities at Singita Ebony Lodge

Ebony Lodge abounds with things to do for all ages and activity types. Of course, when you’re staying in the heart of an extensive game reserve, you’ll want to partake in one of the Lodge’s complimentary guided game drives where you’ll marvel at all kinds of magnificent animals - of land, water, and sky. For the extra adventurous, ditch the 4x4 and head out into the reserve on foot, accompanied by an expert local guide. Track animal prints and identify wildlife from behind the whispering curtain of the long grasses. During your stay, you’re likely to catch sight of leopards, lions, rhinos, elephants, and many more of Africa’s magnificent animals. Bring your camera and a spare memory card - you’re going to take a lot of pictures. If you have binoculars, bring these too - otherwise, you can borrow a pair from the lodge for the day.

Once you’ve spent a day out on the reserve, you’ll probably want to treat yourself to a restful day of relaxation. Perhaps spend the morning by the pool before indulging in a wine tasting onsite. Singita is one of Africa’s leading collectors of wine, and its wine list features many rare bottles. Led by François Rautenbach, director of Singita Premier Wine, you can even send your favorite bottles home ahead of you so your safari adventure can continue even once the vacation is over.

In the evening, lose yourself to the clear African sky and laze out on deck, watching the gentle twinkling of stars, with such clarity as is rare anywhere else in the world. Hundreds of miles from any city pollution or street lights, you’ll be awestruck by what you can see in the night sky here.
