Set on the northern border of Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Haina Kalahari Lodge has the advantage of being able to offer you not just a fantastic introduction to the wildlife of the Kalahari Desert but also to its human inhabitants, the San Bushmen, who have lived side by side with big game for thousands of years. After all, the Kalahari is one of Botswana’s best destinations for game viewing, a landscape that is home to giraffes, antelope, lions, leopards, and cheetahs as well as a wealth of smaller and more unusual animals such as brown hyenas, bat-eared foxed and honey badgers.

Accommodating a maximum of 20 guests, Haina Kalahari Lodge prides itself on a flexible and diverse approach to its safari activities. You can choose between game drives, guided bush walks, bird-watching adventures, and cultural interactions with local San villagers. There are also night drives on offer as well as optional excursions into the vast Central Kalahari Game Reserve itself, and the chance to explore the Kalahari by quad bike (ATV).

The lodge is centered around its spacious main lounge and indoor dining area where there is also a fully stocked bar, safari shop, and library. You will also have the advantage of Wi-Fi access and battery-charging facilities in the lounge; take a stroll outside and you find a generous viewing deck overlooking the in-house waterhole, an outdoor dining area known as a boma plus a swimming pool with sundeck. A gym equipped with the latest training equipment is a nice touch, as is the complimentary laundry service.

A wellness spa is also part of the camp’s facilities, offering soothing massages and beauty treatments care of its resident professional masseuse.

Dining

The day begins early with tea, coffee, and biscuits served at your tent before your morning game drive or walk. You return to a hearty late-morning brunch and a welcome siesta before high tea is served mid-afternoon before your second activity. Drinks and snacks are served at sunset while you are out on the drive and then you return for a 3-course dinner.
