Accommodation: Arusha Serena Hotel, Resort & Spa
Meals Planned: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, we'll depart for Tarangire National Park. The park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. In places, the vegetation is quite dense, including elephant grass and acacia woodlands. Tarangire National Park has some of the highest population densities of elephants compared to anywhere in Tanzania. Its sparse vegetation, strewn with baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and distinctive location to visit. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else on the planet. After lunch, drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Farm of Dream Lodge.
Accommodation: Farm of Dream Lodge
After an early breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and on to Serengeti National Park with game viewing en route. Serengeti is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequaled for its natural beauty and scientific value. It has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November. They then swirl west and north after the long rains in April and May. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can hold them back. Serengeti is truly home to the legendary Great Wildebeest Migration. The Serengeti is where safari-goers come to truly experience an African safari. Late in the afternoon, you'll arrive at your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at Embalakai Camp.
Accommodation: Embalakai Camp
After an early breakfast, drive out of the Serengeti and on to Ngorongoro Crater for a game-viewing drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most famous sites and is said to have the highest density of wildlife in Africa. Sometimes it’s described as an Eighth Wonder of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Crater has achieved world-renowned status, attracting an ever-increasing number of visitors each year. You are unlikely to escape other vehicles here, but you are guaranteed great wildlife viewing in a genuinely mind-blowing environment. There is nowhere else in Africa quite like Ngorongoro! It is one of the best places in the country to see the endangered black rhinoceros. The park is home to the entirety of the Big Five and is a particularly good place to see lions and Cape buffalo all year round. After lunch, we'll head back to Arusha in time for a flight to Dar es Salaam. Your overnight stay is at Four Point by Sheraton Dar es Salaam.
Accommodation: Four Points by Sheraton Dar es Salaam New Africa
In the morning, you'll be picked up from the hotel and transferred to the airport to take your domestic scheduled flight to Kigoma. Pick up on your arrival and transfer to Kibirizi Port for your private boat to Gombe. On arrival, transfer to the lodge, and at 12:00 pm, get hot lunches. Afterward, proceed for afternoon chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe Stream’s main attraction is obviously the chimpanzee families that live protected within the park’s boundaries. Visitors take walks deep into the forest to observe and sit with the extraordinary primates for an entire morning. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe Stream’s tropical forests. Vervet and Colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and dik-diks inhabit the dense forest and a wide variety of tropical birdlife. Your overnight stay is at Gombe Forest Lodge.
Accommodation: Mbali Mbali Gombe Lodge
After breakfast, at 8:00 am, go for chimpanzee trekking. Climb to Jane Goodall’s peak then get back to the guest house. At 10:00 am, depart by boat back to Kigoma town. You'll be picked up on your arrival and transferred to Ujiji Village to visit Dr Livingstone's Memorial Center. Ujiji is the oldest town in western Tanzania, located about 6 miles (10km) south of Kigoma. Ujiji is the place where Richard Burton and John Speke first reached the shore of Lake Tanganyika in 1858. It is the site of the famous meeting on 10 November 1871, when Henry Stanley found Dr David Livingstone, and reputedly uttered the famous words “Dr Livingstone, I presume?”. Livingstone, whom many thought dead as no news had been heard of him for several years. A monument known as the "Dr Livingstone Memorial" was erected here to commemorate the meeting. There is also a modest museum. There is a former slave route near the market. Dinner and your overnight stay are at the Kigoma Hilltop Hotel.
After breakfast, you'll be picked up and transferred to the airport in time for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. You'll then take another flight to Zanzibar.
