Exclusively located in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, Cheetah Camp is one of the smaller and more intimate accommodations in the Masai Mara area. Comprising spacious tents, the camp is solar-powered, and community-driven, and offers you a wide range of safari and cultural experiences. The tents are well spaced under shady trees, affording you privacy when you are not out looking for topi, giraffe, lion, waterbuck, and serval.

Wildlife viewing is the main focus and there are morning, afternoon, and night game drives to look forward to in the private conservancy. Located close to a permanent source of water, the area is an especially game-rich one and famous for its abundance of big cats, the most common of which is often cheetah, regularly seen with cubs. You also have the chance to go on full-day safaris in the nearby Masai Mara as well as guided bush walks and cultural excursions to Maasai villages. There is also the optional experience of a dawn hot-air balloon safari, the most dramatic way to greet the rising African sun.

The camp is open all year round with the Wildebeest Migration moving through the region between about July and November. Cheetah Camp welcomes guests over the age of five but parents should bear in mind this is an unfenced camp with no facilities dedicated to children.

Standard Tent

Each spacious tent features its own en suite bathroom with a hot-bucket shower, flush toilet, and hand basin. A pleasing blend of timber and canvas, the tents have a clean-lined and fresh feel, and are furnished with a double bed as well as a writing desk, chairs, and storage for clothes. An additional bed can be added to the tent to accommodate a third adult or child. Large private patios feature views of the surrounding forest and plains game like zebra and wildebeest can be seen grazing around camp.

Facilities

Porini Cheetah Camp is a small and intimate camp designed to leave a minimal eco-footprint and give you everything you need for comfort. The main camp has dining and lounge tents, which are open-sided to catch a cooling breeze and there are tables and chairs set up outside under trees and umbrellas. The camp is solar-powered with a backup generator so you can recharge your camera batteries and electrical devices.

Dining

All meals are included at Porini Cheetah Camp as are most drinks such as bottled water, tea and coffee, soft drinks, local beers, house wines, and G&Ts for sundowners. Meals are served inside or outdoors, depending on the weather, and you will enjoy well-crafted dishes made with local ingredients where possible. Indian-style and vegetarian meals are available on request.
