Day 1:  Nungwi, Zanzibar - 90min/60min/30min Guided Tour

Option 1: Morning Ride on The Beach

From the stables, we head to Nungwi main beach and start our beach ride beside the Z hotel. From here we can head south towards Kendwa beach. We will pass some of the biggest and most luxurious hotels in Zanzibar whilst we walk along the best beach with the clearest water on the island. On some of the most deserted parts of the beach, we can trot and canter for those who are able or keen to try.

After about half an hour we return along the same section of the beach but walking into the shallow waters of the ocean. This is the horse’s favorite part and often they will stop to splash themselves and the rider. Alternatively, our morning ride could take you to the beaches North of the Z hotel, including Nungwi Village Beach. This ride is a little busier and takes in a cultural element. Village children will often follow the horses singing “farasi farasi” which is Swahili for horses. Beach rides are subject to the time of high tides.

Option 2: Romantic Sunset Horseback Beach Riding

We can offer you a beach ride timed to return early evening so the whole way back you will have a stunning Nungwi sunset to enjoy. Stop for the horses to splash themselves whilst taking in the beautiful setting. On these rides, we can head either towards Kendwa or North to Nungwi Village beach. Alternatively, your ride could take you through Nungwi experiencing the sights and hubbub of the village to come out on the beach of North Nungwi where the Dhow boats are made and the fishermen bring in their catches. At low tide, we can walk back down the beach with the sunset to our right or alternatively spend some time on the beach and then head back through the village to home. Beach rides are subject to the time of high tides.

Option 3: Cultural Horse Riding In Zanzibar

On this ride we turn right out of the stables and head towards Nungwi village, passing the local Nungwi village school. We continue into the village through narrow back streets, passing village houses and shops. We leave the village center at Nungwi fish market and join the beach at a section famous for its Dhow building. Here you can witness village life and see how the beach is the beating heart of the village. From here we can head back to the stables South along the beach passing the famous Gerry’s Bar, the Hilton Hotel, and Cholo’s.

Option 4: Swimming With Horses In Zanzibar

We can tailor-make a ride to suit you to include swimming with our horses. Upon returning to the beach area around the Z Hotel we dismount and will unsaddle your horse in order that you can lead your horse into the sea. Enjoy swimming alongside your horse or getting on bareback to have a ride with a difference! Wear something you don’t mind getting wet on your ride or alternatively you can change into your swimwear in the changing rooms provided at the Z Hotel. We can include a shorter ride and a swim within an hour or alternatively why not have an hour's ride and then cool off in the water with your horse afterwards? We can also encompass a village element into this ride allowing for the tides. Swimming is not possible during full low tide but the horses can still be taken into the water for a lovely splash and great photos!
