Indeed, it is claimed that the park is the most bio-diverse in Africa and it certainly has a reputation for the heavyweight species – lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, and crocodile – which gather in increasing numbers at water sources in the dry season (about May to October).

Safari Tent Twin

Set on a wooden platform and with a thatched roof, the uncluttered and spacious rooms feature traditional carved Zanzibari beds and polished wooden floors with electric lighting provided via solar power. You have a sofa on the veranda to sink into and enjoy the view, as well as the comfort of a private en suite bathroom complete with shower, sink, and flush toilet.

This family unit is made by an inter-connected double and twin room that share a large viewing deck where you can enjoy meals together

Facilities

The main communal building at Mbali Mbali Katavi is raised off the ground and offers fine views from both its comfortable chairs and the large swimming pool. A choice of indoor and outdoor seating and dining areas are available depending on the weather, and you will be able to recharge batteries in the main lodge and also enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity.

There is a small reference library for you to use as well as a bar stocked with local and imported drinks; the complimentary laundry service is a nice touch.

Dining

Emphasizing on taste and wholesomeness rather than haute cuisine, the meals at Mbali Mbali Katavi Lodge are served at individual tables at the main camp. Breakfast may be taken with you as a packed box if you are heading out early on a game drive, or served at camp later.

Lunch is another meal that you may take with you on a drive or sit down to at camp after an activity. Dinner is a grand three-course plated meal served by candlelight, although twice a week the camp serves a traditional under-the-stars barbeque. Special diets such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and kosher can be catered for, as long as the camp is notified at the time of booking.
