Mafia Island is part of Tanzania’s Mafia Archipelago, in the Indian Ocean. Large swaths of the island’s southern coastline and surrounding waters are protected by the Mafia Island Marine Park. Within the park are many coral reefs, home to wildlife such as whale sharks and sea turtles. Mafia Island is very small. If you are staying in Kilindoni, everything is within walking distance. In the center are the main road and a market. From here, the airport is 5 minutes (walk), the port 5 minutes, and a swimmable beach 15 minutes, with all restaurants and bars (there aren’t many!) sitting in between.
Despite 3 Days 2 Nights at Mafia Island, it’s possible for a One-day trip safari from Zanzibar Island by Flight, which departs from Zanzibar to Mafia from 07:00 at Zanzibar Airport.
In the south, beaches include secluded Ras Kisimani, just across from Bwejuu Island. Popular Utende Beach edges onto Chole Bay.

Depart by flight from Zanzibar around 14:00 or 16:00 from Dar es Salaam to Mafia in the evening flight. On arrival, you will be met by your lodge driver who will transfer to the lodge. Relax at your accommodation or choose from one of the many extra optional activities available on this unique island.

After breakfast, enjoy your whale shark excursion. Whale sharks are present on Mafia Island year-round but peak seasons to spot and go out swimming with them are November through to February. Check the tides and activities on offer from your lodge daily. If you’re very lucky you might be there for a turtle nest hatching also! In the evening time, you will have a chance for a city tour of Mafia Island to learn how the people of Mafia Island live, and history later Enjoy your overnight at your chosen accommodation.
After a final leisurely breakfast, you will have 5 hours of snorkeling at Chole Island and spend your last Day on Mafia Island, your driver will transfer you back (across the island) to the airstrip. Catch your flight back to Dar es Salaam at 17:35 - 18:10 if you are from Zanzibar we will take the flight at 17:00 and return back to Zanzibar Services end.

·40% Deposit payable upfront. The remaining balance is payable 45 days before trip departure. Free cancellation up to 30 days before departure, but the 40% deposit paid is non-refundable. No refund applicable within 20 days of departure.

A deposit of 40% is required when booking this tour. The remaining balance will be charged 45 days before departure. For any bookings within 30 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking.
